VACCINATION INFORMATION

At Queen City Canine, we follow the recommended vaccination guidelines of the AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association). For more information, please click here.

As dog owners are learning, vaccinations all carry their own risks. We pride ourselves on keeping our facility clean, disinfected, and well ventilated – which leads to healthier and happier dogs. This vow to our clients to keep our facility safe and clean, coincides with the health of your dog.

VACCINATION RECOMMENDATIONS

Rabies – We require that all dogs are up to date on their Rabies vaccination, according to NYS standards. After their first annual booster, we only require Rabies to be updated every 3 years with vaccination records from your vet provided to us.

Bordatella – We require that all dogs are up to date according to Queen City Canine’s standards on their Bordatella vaccinations.

Distemper and Parvo – We require that all dogs are up to date according to Queen City Canine’s standards on their Distemper and Parvo vaccinations. You may choose to run titer tests for Distemper and Parvo vaccinations to prove existing immunity rather than re-vaccinating. If you choose to use titer tests, please remember to attach an accompanying note from your vet interpreting the results as displaying adequate immune responseLearn more about Titer Tests here.

For all vaccinations, even those not listed here, we recommend a 48 hour break from attendance, especially if it is your dog’s first time receiving that vaccination

  • We believe it is incredibly important to stay informed about the risks taken when administering “combo shots” to your dogs. These combo shots may not only limit the immune response in your dog’s body, but research has shown it can put them at higher risk for a vaccine reaction. Find out what exactly is in each vaccination, and whether or not your dog really needs it.

  • Only accept necessary vaccinations when your dog is HEALTHY. Do not vaccinate a dog who is at the vet due to a different condition just for convenience, as an ill dog is more at risk for adverse reaction.

  • You do not have to accept 1 year vaccinations after your dog’s first annual vaccination for Rabies, Distemper, or Parvo. You have the right to ask for 3 year vaccinations. To learn more about 1 year and 3 year vaccinations, click here. To learn more about the actual documented minimum length of immunity provided by a single Distemper or Parvo vaccination (5 years), click here.
